Doctor Vampire Rogue Reads Tick Anger Song

Wow, I’ve been off this for a good long while. I’ve got a lot to catch up on. Here’s what I’ve been spending my time on…

I took the day off last Friday. I filled the morning watching Doctor Who. $Cableraper$ on Demand at Circus Lady’s house was showing episodes 3-8 of Series 5. I haven’t been able to get ahold the first two, but I’m sure I will somehow.

This show is really neat, especially I’m enjoying the time travel premise, since we’ve been designing a game for just such a premise. My first character will definitely have a Sonic Screwdriver

During the afternoon, I went over the Emperor’s basement and played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Jazzhands really enjoyed me cussing over it, and Emperor loved to give me false intel on what I was supposed to do next. Also, the stupid epileptic dog is insane. Alucard can turn into a wolf, and so Jazzhands got the song from Flight of the Conchords stuck in my head for the whole week.

Rogue Trader didn’t happen this week. Sadness. Woodchuck got there really late, and he was pretty much the lynchpin, being the captain and all. So no gaming was had, although in catchup from my sleeping last week, my Navigator got an additional mutation, giving the dude a long, slender body. In addition to his inhuman visage and unearthly agility, the guy is basically the Slenderman now.

So, when Woodchuck arrived, what was there to do but design 18th level D&D4 characters for his upcoming one-shot? She’s a different game than her post-mid-life-crisis father 3.5, certainly. Since every character is a list of powers within a stats framework, the hardest part is choosing those powers. I designed a character based on performing divination rituals, and really none of the feats or powers had anything to do with that. The game seems to be shifted towards miniatures and controlling battlefields for tactical combat. It’ll be interesting to play it on a high level like that. I most certainly will have a hard time getting used to healing surges, especially since it is totally opposite where HM is going.

This week for Hackmaster, Emperor came and played. Tea Kettle is getting more confident, and we’re all getting more familiar with the rules. Healing is more realistic but harsh. Emperor himself gained a fear of giant ticks. Much fun was had. We made secondary characters just in case, and had a little fun with the new classes in the Hackjournals.

A little hint, Dave Kenzer… Rogue? It’s a firking BARD. Call it what it is.

On a suggestion from good friends, on the aforementioned $Cableraper$ on Demand, I was able to watch Mad Men. They have the whole first season on there. I’m roughly 80% of the way through it. Most of the thrill is the period eccentricity, but also the very real drama and mystery that they setup within that framework is excellent.

I answered what we thought to be a telemarketer at Circus Lady’s a couple nights ago. As it turns out, it was actually an offer to become a Nielsen Family. We’re pretty jazzed about it.

The B-Side of The Brilliant Green’s single Forever to Me is called Alone Alone. I’m absolutely in love with the song right now. It appeared randomly on my AOL radio JPop queue, and since I 5-starred it, it plays a couple times a day for me.

  1. Will you please update the Roster to include Jazzhands? Thank you.

Further, I would like to see a post of how you enjoy the different systems we are trying and what you would like to see me GM. I love GMing, but I don't know what I want to plan for next.

The Emperor should be afraid of giant ticks. They are terrifying.
