Now, technically, you can watch the remainder of Series 1, as the reason for his, ahem, condition is contained within the finale, The Parting of the Ways. This is a great ending to a great season, but standing alone it lacks the same emotional impact. (Which is also why I don't recommend Series 2's Torchwood-related season arc unless you're watching the whole thing.) You can skip it if you'd like. You'll figure it out soon enough.
