SCF 2012 Pt 2

Summer Camp Finds 2012
So Day 2 of my series here covers Friday-Saturday Afternoon at Summer Camp this year.
Weir Robinson Greene Acoustic Trio is made up of three very talented musicians. You may recognize Bobby Weir from an obscure local San Francisco band.

Chris Robinson you may have also heard of, he's the singer of a little Atlanta group.

The last part of the group I hadn't heard of myself before this. However, since then I've been looking around for his stuff, and he's just as talented as the other two.
I give the Acoustic Trio a 5 out of 5, because they played an amazing set that was full of nostalgic Dead songs. Seeing the Road Captain singing "What A Long Strange Trip It's Been" from Truckin with his sleeve rolled up to show the lyrics, with Bobby less than 10 feet from him, was a highlight. Oh, here it is. There is a firm possibility that is his hand at 1:17.

So Primus was also there.

Their show sucked. 1 out of 5. They brought on two guests with a banjo and an accordion or some shit, then I decided to leave. I left the show before I was able to see this one:

SCF 2012 Pt 1

Summer Camp Finds 2012
So getting back to the blog, I thought it'd be nice to post about my favorite acts from Summer Camp this year.
Future Rock is a jam band you may be familiar with. They are a 3-piece electronic/dance act. They put on one hell of a rave. Here's one of their better songs.

I was actually present for the performance below.

Future Rock gets a 4 out of 5 for being a real fun start to the weekend for me and the best dance party around.

The Giving Tree Band is the first show I caught on Friday. This first song is a Grateful Dead cover, but it showcases the band really well.

These guys were pretty amazing live. Between the 7 of them, there were 15 different instruments they wielded. They combined for a great folky-rock vibe with a rich sound.

The Giving Tree Band is 5 out of 5. They kicked a lot of ass. I'm looking forward to seeing them again another time. I even chose to stay and listen to them rather than being dragged off by a random hippie chick.

After Christmas Bloos

So here we are again, dear reader.

Today is Day 2 of the Great Rest, which followed the EnWorkening, an 11 day test of mental fortitude.

My schedule today consisted of beating the main quest of Skyrim, visiting my western parents, and that's about it. The Emperor got home at about 9 tonight, so he's here now. However, after a trip to Best Buy to get a new cable modem, we've both been engrossed in the internet.

I have gotten to speak with Woodchuck. He's doing okay, eagerly awaiting Chickadee. We discussed TV. Since I've gotten that in lately as well.

What I haven't gotten to do is see Tea Kettle. It'd be nice to get a chance, but he may be around tomorrow. The Christmas season has roughed up all our schedules lately. There are others I missed as well.

Anyway, thanks for reading. Sorry I couldn't be more chipper, but I'm just still mentally beaten. I'll get better. :)

Do I?

I've been doing excellent lately. My best buddy's wedding was awesome. I'm loving my work. I am trying not to crash headlong into a relationship that isn't ready to happen yet, but enjoying every minute of it. I'm happy.

Do you realize how much that means? I have had good moments in my life, but I'd rarely call myself happy in general. Lately I have been. I even lightened the mood around here at the Road Captain's suggestion.

From the lips of so many of the people I care about, "You deserve it."

Yeah, I do.

Let me be awake

Kittens woke me at 5:30. Then Traveler sent me a message. I cannot go back to sleep.

Let me be me

Should be sleeping. Cannnot.

My head's a mess lately.

I feel guilty.

A little lonely.

Star Wars may help.
